Brookfield Student Achieves Elite WordMaster Recognition

Shannon McKee represented Whisconier Middle School at the WordMasters Challenge and received a perfect score in the last of three meets.

Sixth grader McKee earned a perfect score of 20 in the recent meet, competing in the difficult Blue Division of the WordMasters Challenge.

The WordMasters Challenge is a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually. Nationally, only 39 sixth graders achieved a perfect score.

Another Brookfield sixth grader, Taryn Terracino, also achieved outstanding results in the final meet, scoring 19.  

The students were coached in preparation for the WordMasters Challenge™ by WMS teacher Sue Crean.

The WordMasters Club was comprised of 24 fifth and sixth graders who met weekly after school to challenge themselves with new vocabulary.
