Brookfield Educators Attend International Conference on Gifted Students

Four Brookfield teachers were invited to attend UConn's Confratute 2011 earlier this month.

Pamela Rogalin of Weston, Connecticut; Robyn Kelleher of New Fairfield, Connecticut; Lucy LaPointe of Brookfield, Connecticut; and Aggie Burns of Newtown, Connecticut, all Brookfield educators, recently participated in Confratute 2011, the international conference/institute on educating gifted and talented children and youth held July 10-15, 2011 at the University of Connecticut.

Now in its 34th consecutive year, Confratute sponsored by the Neag center for Gifted Education and talent development at the University of Connecticut, has distinguished itself as one of the world’s most definitive conferences/institutes on gifted education.  A primary feature of Confratute is the converging of prominent leaders in the field upon a single site for one week to interact and consult with teachers, administrators and parents eager to learn about exceptionally able youngsters.  Who they are, how they learn differently from other children, and what parents and school personnel need to do to help them develop their creative abilities and talents are explored in-depth by the participants.

More than 700 educators attended Confratute 2011 from 48 states and U.S. territories, Canada, Japan, Indonesia, Senegal, Jordan, Malaysia and several European nations.
