Want to Join Brookfield Republicans?

The party is looking for people to serve on the town committee and appointed offices in town.

The following is a press release from the Brookfield Republican Town Committee.

The Brookfield Republican Town Committee (BRTC) is seeking candidates to serve on the town committee during the 2014-16 term. In addition to the 25 regular members, the BRTC has 10 alternate positions.

The BRTC works to recruit, endorse, and elect Republican candidates at all levels of our government, and to promote activities that raise funds to support the election of said Republican candidates. The Vacancy Committee will conduct interviews with interested Republicans in the coming weeks, and the full BRTC will select a full slate of 35 (25 + 10).

The candidates recommended by the BRTC will be presented to a caucus open to all Republicans at a date in January to be determined.

Additionally, the BRTC is seeking candidates interested in volunteering for the following appointed offices: Arts Commission, Board of Ethics, Candlewood Lake Authority, Commission on Aging, Conservation Commission, Economic Development Commission, Historic District Commission, Housing Authority, Inland Wetlands Commission, Lake Lillinonah Authority, Library Board of Trustees, Municipal Building Committee, Parks & Recreation Commission, Police Commission, and Water Pollution Control Authority.

The Vacancy Committee will conduct interviews in the coming weeks, and the BRTC will recommend candidates to be considered by the Board of Selectmen (BOS) in January. Regular and alternate members approved by the BOS will begin serving on their respective appointed boards and commissions in February 2014.

Registered Republicans interested in interviewing for a position on the BRTC or for an appointed office, or who have questions about any of these commissions, should contact George Walker (Chairman of the BRTC Vacancy Committee, 203-775-1230; gwalker1230@charter.net) or Marty Flynn (Chairman of the BRTC, 203-775-3879; martyflynn@charter.net) by Saturday, Dec. 21.
