Andrea Grosner June 22, 2012 at 04:19 PM
(I've also posted this comment on the "Letter to the Editor" page) I guess I'd like to know who the heck is on the Conservation Committee and why THEY feel the need to make/insist on decisions that should not only be PUBLIC knowledge to the town of Brookfield but also should be a TOWN decision. Just because Happy Landing was "recommended as the best location from the conservation committee" does not mean they can FORCE their decision on Brookfield. Shame on them for suggesting this because as we all know, it's a "permanent, protected, open, space" and shame on the BOS to AGREE to that decision. I wonder what other decisions the Conservation Committee has insisted on and the BOS have agreed to that the town has no knowledge of. And, Matt Dewkett asked Lisa if they looked "at some of the corporate landowners in Brookfield to see if a similar agreement can be worked out. Your consistent reply is effectively that you've exhausted ALL options other than Happy Landings. I think you might put some if this to bed if you'd specifically note which companies you've asked, and what their response was". The response from Lisa was "Call me stubborn but I don't feel like I should be bullied into telling people everything we've done." I think that was a completely fair question and I as a tax payer and resident of Brookfield INSIST on knowing EVERYTHING that was done regarding this issue and if Lisa wont tell us then I'd like to know WHO will.
LFerrara June 22, 2012 at 04:52 PM
Andrea...NO ONE will answer that question. Since the original patch article, the dog park committee has been asked for a list of locations explored and reasons for denied. NO ANSWER. All the questions from Mondays town meeting that were asked....NO ANSWERS. The dog park committee has been working on this for 18 months? Then where is the specific detailed plan with every aspects of the dog park included?? What have they been doing for 18 months? And yet...here we are...being asked to hand over a piece of protected open space to three individuals who won't even tell us how they are going to mow the lawn! Lisa doesn't feel like she is going to have to disclose certain information? Well...even if they do win by referendum...the requests for information are not going to end. It is still Protected Open Space and every action taken by the dog park committee is going to be requested and scrutinized because it is our right to know. No group of three individuals should have the power to do "any any all things legally necessary" on town-funded property. If you vote yes....that is what you are giving them.
Andrea Grosner June 22, 2012 at 05:15 PM
I agree! What give them the RIGHT to do "any and all things legally necessary"? Why are they so flippin' stuck on this piece of property and dead set againts any other suggested property? And why have they been working on this for 18 months and only NOW are we finding out about it? Sorry but not everyone attends the BOS meetings or has access to read the Patch. Lisa mentioned that dog parks are the new "trend" and that this wont be "permanent", then why do it in the first place?
Lisa Foltz Allan June 22, 2012 at 07:29 PM
I do not believe anything we say or do will be good enough for you so what is the real purpose? You are just looking at any flaw you can find. That doesn't even matter because the misconceived notions and especially the out right lies that came out of peoples mouths Monday night were scary. There is a man among us who will stand up in front of a crowd and tell total 100% lies. Why? I don't know how many times I've said to forget about the k-9 grass, it is not an option...but everyone keeps harping on it? Why? Maybe they think they caught something negative and are going to blow it up. The maintenance of the lawn HAS been addressed numerous times as well as insurance. Even Mr. Davidson answered that question. Nothing will be good enough so why are you upset about little things like mowing grass? The names of the properties have most certainly been public knowledge. The private companies I called myself a year ago. Im sorry if I do not have a list of places and their responses. Tell me again what that has to do with Happy Landings. You choose to hear what you want to hear it seems because many of the things you claim not to know either were presented or answered in some paper or thread. I never said the dog park won't be permanent...I said it is not a permanent structure and if it were taken away, after time no one would ever have known it was there. Twisting my words again! Also, if this is 3 people then what in the world do you have to worry about?
Michael Gianfranceschi June 22, 2012 at 09:22 PM
Lisa, if there were so many "lies" on Monday night why didn't you get up and call them out? you had plenty of opportunity. And if you are going to forget about the grass what happens when the grass there now is worn away? just dirt so that when it rains all dog waste just leaches into the ground water? the water table is very high on that property. m As for the names of the companies and other propertys beside Gurski and town hall tell me where in the public record I can find them. thie has everything to do with Happy Landings you need to buy a box of clues.

Lisa Foltz Allan June 22, 2012 at 11:35 PM
I normally wouldn't respond to this because of the nasty comment at the end but the lies came at the end and the moderator stopped the comments. I didn't say everything was a lie, rather a misconception which leads other people to believe something that is not fact. As for the properties that were looked at...read the minutes of meeting, ask the conservation committee! They are the ones who chose this spot. They are in charge of the open space. If you want more say, get on that committee.
Lisa Foltz Allan June 22, 2012 at 11:48 PM
It is not my place to give out names of other people. Has anyone asked you for a list of people on your side? No. Why would we? This has no connection to the vote, dog park at it's stage now or anything else for that matter. I wonder why you would ask a question like that...for specific names.
Lisa Foltz Allan June 23, 2012 at 12:48 AM
No secret. It's no secret who's going to mow the grass either. It was addressed at every town meeting. Parks and Rec will mow it when they mow Happy Landings. It's been said a dozen times and I'm not sure why you are so concerned with it right now. I put myself out there for 1.5 weeks to answer questions. I did the best I could even with the nasty comments mixed in. That takes a toll on you after a while. If you want to ask questions, ask questions. I'm not going to respond to people who demand this or that. Also, when the comments start out with attitude as many of them do, I don't continue to read them. If someone wants to contact us at this point they can go to our web site www.brookfielddogpark.com That has been no secret. If you want to contact someone about something that is going on at the dog park, well, there is no dog park.
Michelle June 23, 2012 at 01:03 AM
With all due respect Lisa much changes in a year. Your commitee can go out and knock on doors of companies and business' asking for donated land. If you haven't done that in a year according to your post. With the added coverage over this dog park, it may strike a fancy of a struggling land owner. It is likely that some business may finally give you a piece of land. This is a tough economy for the commercial realestate market and small business'. It could be a great tax deduction. There is a good chance that is what you will be doing sometime next week if this vote is in favor of NO. I would also like to point out that people aren't picking on your dog park. People are very upset of the location of the proposed dog park. Indeed, the Conservation Committee has dropped the ball and done a major disservice to our town. They should have to answer for that, undoubtedly.
Michelle June 23, 2012 at 01:04 AM
Hypethetically, if you and Mr. Wolf were presenting this dog park to a business looking for it to invest in your product. It would be wise to have a solid plan, short term, long term, benefits, risks, budget, business model, statistics of other local dog parks, pros and cons of other local dog parks, estimates for all work included, etc. It also would be quite wise to have a professional committee set up. Not just two people. A real professional committee with a President,Vice President,Treasurer, etc. A business would have never bought into a half assed(pardon my expression) presentation like the one the dog park committee gave us twice. A prominent business would kindly say to you, "Thank you. Don't call us we will contact you if we have an interest." Basically, you want the town to invest in your dog park. We the community and towns people are your consumers. It should have been presented solidly, full proof, with all the pertinent information including statistics and a list of ALL considered properties. From a business prospective it is flimsy. How can we the consumers and community invest in a half assed product? We can't. We shouldn't. We won't. I would also like to include that it is never good business practice to alienate your possible consumers and not except the validity of their valued concerns.
Michelle June 23, 2012 at 01:05 AM
Just like Stew says, "The customer is always right". We are your customers. Selfishly argueing with your consumers is not in your best interest or in the best interest of the dogs. This dog park is starting become a tethered joke. A bad one. It would be wise for your committee consider other options. many have been presented to you all. If Mr. Gereg has graciously offered to lease you land, then perhaps it should be considered. If you market yourselves correctly, you can charge dog owners a monthly fee to pay for your lease. Since this is a private group, you can make it a business on private property.
Lisa Foltz Allan June 23, 2012 at 01:36 AM
Not picking on the dog park? Doggie porn? sexual predators? Fighting rings? Who's gonna do this or that? All you guys DO is pick on the dog park!
Lisa Foltz Allan June 23, 2012 at 01:53 AM
Maybe it's a joke in your eyes. I have heard many people say the opposite. You were not there when said person wanted to sell his land to us. He also claimed we were a multi-million dollar company! Example of a lie from his 2nd speech at the last meeting: "They refused my offer because it was too far from Obtuse Rd." Good thing there were 6 other people there and will tell you that was never said. Why stand up and tell a blatant lie?? From what I hear he shouldn't have even been allowed in the meeting. See how easy it is to be fooled by someone? That is what's scary. What's also scary is trying to make deals with people from the salons to get them to help you out. Standing outside graduation to get signatures? I can only imagine what you are saying to people. If that's the way you want to go about it that's fine...but at least I know that we have been ethical and fair. Win or lose I keep my integrity. That's worth more than anything else in this political mess.
Lisa Foltz Allan June 23, 2012 at 02:07 AM
This is not a business. We are not selling your group anything. There is nothing we could do or say to change your minds. Even if we tried you wouldn't hear it at all. no, we don't want the town to "invest" in "our" dog park. You are not a consumer. This is actually something quite simple that has been blown way up. Do you think the conservation committee would have been working with us had we not given them anything? parks and rec? Do you think Davidson would have given us the time of day? If you want to look at this from a business perspective then the decision would be made by the CEO of the company (Davidson). not the general public. People don't hand out business proposals to the public. They present it in a private meeting where the officials make the decision. The end
Michelle June 23, 2012 at 02:26 AM
Lisa, you play the fool well. But no one is fooled here. What on Earth are you speaking of doggie porn? As for someones concern about sexual preditors what is your problem with that comment? Actually, we have several convicted sex offenders here in Brookfield as residents. In fact, a friend just spoke of one living in her neighborhood today. The review read off of a public website cited a valid experience of a the New Milford Dog Park. That is why there are public reviews Lisa. So people can make an educated decision. Whether you are reading a review from Sears or one of a local dog park.
Michelle June 23, 2012 at 02:30 AM
As of your rediculous and outrageous remarks about salons I have nothing to say to you except that you are just plain nuts. There is just no sound reasoning with you. You are difficuIt to deal with. I support the people who cut my childrens hair. I support small business' in a delicate economic climate. I support the mom & pop business all over the Danbury area. These are good people, great community members and fine Brookfield citizens. It is important to rally with and support all of the small business' in our area. These are tough times for many. As for Graduation, I was not there. So your are incorrect yet again. Everyone has tried to help you get your dog park and give your links, ideas and suggestions. You will not have it. In good faith land was offered to you. You will not have it. People have offered to dig holes and put up fence at any other location but this one. You will not have it. You remind me of a pubescent teenage girl throwing a fit. Your behavior is outrageous, unprofessional and juvenile. Throw your hissy fit. I am done dealing with you. I will see you at the polls!
Lisa Foltz Allan June 23, 2012 at 02:57 AM
Maybe it's because we're online or we just have two different mindsets...whatever it is this banter back and forth is pointless because once again I totally disagree with much of what you say. Never did I say "I will not have it". I did not say it was specifically you at the graduation. I guess you weren't listening to your own people at the last meeting when doggie porn was brought up. And Once again we have a personal attack based on reading a comment. Ouch
LFerrara June 23, 2012 at 03:37 AM
"your own people"?? Those are members of the public, and if they have a concern they have every right to express it. Neither the "doggie porn" comment, nor the "sexual predators" were made by people in HLA, but that makes no difference...if residents need clarification and answers to things, they should get responses, no matter how you feel about the question or concern. That is the purpose of the town meeting. "from what you hear he shouldn't have been allowed in the meeting"?? Again...you are bashing someone with nothing but nonsense to back it up. "make deals with people from the salons to get them to help us"??? Now you are accusing us of bribing people? People sign petitions voluntarily, not by force, and believe me, the people who signed are 100% in favor of the referendum.
Lisa Foltz Allan June 23, 2012 at 02:09 PM
I am very careful with my wording but I guess you read what you want to read. I'm thinking I need a "Patch Break" What a waste of energy. People read what I type and make it into what they want anyway.
Pete Tomaino June 23, 2012 at 03:43 PM
Hello Everyone,I have come to this conclusion,so I thought I would share it with all of you.#1, Open Space should remain protected and in its natural state, that is without a doubt.#2 I am a dog owner and would really like to see brookfield have its own dog park that I would most likely use,IF,it was more central to myself and many others.I am a resident of North Mountain Rd. since 1977,Happy Landings is a good 5 mile trip for me,if you could persuade me to rethink my position on open space. Years ago the townspeople and the post office was looking for a central location, they decided on the current spot on Pocono Rd.Some years after that we also chose that area for our largest fire dept.and then our town hall and senior center, and then our Kids Kingdom, all has seemed to work out well for myself and many others.I beleive that this area is very convenient for many people. As I said I have done a lot of reading here and I just cant seem to find an answer to the one question I havent seen asked here. Why not the town hall property?? A little corner down around the brush dump maybe?I dont buy Mr. Davidsons comment ,I beleive that there are to many children in that area,The children that use Kids Kingdom are supposed to be monitored by a parent or adult family member, and as I have observed for over 25 times that I have checked in the last 6 or 7 weeks at various times, all seems to be going very well.So can someone give me a straight up honest answer as to,why not town hall property?
Pete Tomaino June 23, 2012 at 03:46 PM
I had to cut back on my above post, but I did want to say ,Thank You.
Michelle June 23, 2012 at 04:48 PM
I would just like to convey that it has been an honor to work with these fabulous community members of the Happy Landings Association. It has been a whirlwind of magic to have virtual strangers come together to work tirelessly and passionately for the common good of protecting this sacred parcel. These are some of Brookfield's finest and most upstanding citizens. Their commitment, enthusiasm and care have been outstanding. I am very proud to be a small part of the wonderful work they have all done. I commend and thank these dedicated, fine community members for their courage and devotion to honor and protect this permantently protected space as the town had voted it. It has been a great privilage to work with you all at the Happy Landings Association. I thank you kindly for including me. It has been a most inspiring experience.
Lucia June 24, 2012 at 01:49 AM
Michael what Lisa has to say does not matter to you, that is clear. You certainly are entitled to your opinion; however, making irrelevant, pointless remarks ("box of clues") certainly does not to bolster your argument, it makes you sound rather kindergarten.
Lucia June 24, 2012 at 01:51 AM
Calm down LFerrara, it sounds like you're on the verge of stroking out. There will be a vote and this issue will be decided.
Lucia June 24, 2012 at 02:29 AM
Michelle I am sure the Happy Landings Association was happy to include you since their sole purpose is to stop Kanine Kingdom being established at Happy Landings, which is certainly uppermost in your mind.
George June 26, 2012 at 01:26 AM
dog parks are very quite. anyone that goes to one knows that. They also do not stink. I imagine all the people so opposed to this have never been to a dog park.
George June 26, 2012 at 01:28 AM
last time i went to happy landings one of these houses was blasting music. not very considerate of the park.
