Role Reversal For November's Democratic Ticket

First Selectman Bill Davidson will be stepping down from the top job but not off the ticket.

In an unusual turn of events, First Selectman Bill Davidson and Selectman Howard Lasser announced Thursday that they will be running as a team for the third time, however in reverse positions.

This November, Davidson said he plans to run for one of the two Selectmen seats, while Lasser will take over at the top of the Democratic ticket.

“My two terms as Brookfield’s First Selectman has been satisfying and rewarding,” Davidson said Thursday night. “I plan to stay very involved in the Lasser-Davidson leadership team and with helping Brookfield move ahead.”

Davidson, who stated several times in the past that he only planned to serve two terms as First Selectman, said he urged his two-time running mate to seek the First Selectman’s seat.

“I am proud of the many accomplishments of the Davidson/Lasser team,” Lasser said Thursday, citing the Roads Reinvestment Bond, Kids Kingdom II, improved water infrastructure and the plan for Four Corners. “I look forward to continuing the partnership with Bill Davdison. Together we will lead Brookfield and continue the progress that has been accomplished.”
