The town of Brookfield is holding a public hearing and two special town meetings Tuesday night, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in room 133 of Town Hall.
The public hearing, first on Tuesday night’s agenda, is for residents to give their input on the proposed sale of a town-owned cottage behind the Brookfield Library. If approved, the town will begin accepting bids on March 16, with a minimum opening bid of $140,000.
At the close of the public hearing (and no earlier than 7 p.m.), the town will convene a special town meeting to vote on the sale of the cottage, as well as the third phase of the Southern Water Line, which would extend the water line from the intersection of Federal Road and Candlewood Lake Road to just shy of the Danbury town line.
Residents and property owners will be asked to approve bonding $495,000 through the town, to be paid down by the property owners along the line through benefit assessments.
