Brookfield Republicans Endorse 2013 Candidates

Brookfield Republicans caucused Tuesday night to select their candidates for the 2013 Municipal Elections to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Approximately 100 registered Republicans in attendance at the caucus were unanimous in their choice of William N. (Bill) Tinsley for First Selectman and Martin E. (Marty) Flynn for Selectman.

Tinsley said Wednesday that he was encouraged by the unity shown at the caucus and is looking forward to returning to local politics.

Tinsley, a former Board of Finance (BOF) chairman who ran for First Selectman in 2009, admitted he “hasn’t been front and center for the last few years but I’ve always been in touch.”

“I have an aggressive, businessman view of managing expenses and the town operations and school operations both need to be looked at aggressively,” he said. “We need to find a way to do more with less — it’s a soundbyte but it’s true — and I happen to be from a school that knows it’s possible.”

“You can count on Bill and me to get it right on spending priorities, taxes, economic development and governance and working relationships with others,” Flynn said after the nomination. “We push no point-of-view to aside. Everyone who wants a voice will have a seat at the table and an attentive ear.”
