Orange Police Seize 69 Pot Plants in Lambert Road Bust

Cops say they discovered a "substantial marijuana growing operation" in an Orange home.

Orange police officials say a Monday night search of a Lambert Road home netted 69 marijuana plants, 2.5 pounds of cultivated marijuana, and a variety of growing and packaging equipment.

According to a statement, Orange Police conducted the warranted search at about 7 p.m. Monday night after getting a tip about drug activity at the home. Police worked with the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force.

Police say they used a low-flying helicopter to monitor the house in case potential suspects fled into the woods. Two suspects were arrested, but police have not released identification yet. Patch will bring you more on this story as information becomes available.

I'll bet half of these comments are cigarette smokers... way worse in my opinion, yet that is legal.... If cigarettes and booze are legal... logically ask yourself what really is wrong with pot? Don't give me the gateway drug copout because it's 100% false.

And I know you're all going to label me a pothead, in reality I do not touch the stuff, but logically it doesn't make sense that it is illegal, and the excessive law force used in this particular sting was just ridiculous and likely a massive waste of your tax dollars.

It looks like the cops formed a task force and served a no-knock warrant on perps who had no history of violence. Similar operations like these, similarly tipped off by unreliable confidential informants (criminals under a cop's thumb), have resulted in innocent homeowners being shot and killed, elderly folks going into cardiac arrest, dogs killed, etc. They break the doors down, throw in flash and bang grenades and/or tear gas, and anyone not asleep or on the ground with hands visible is shot prophylactically. This is now American-style justice. How different is this from Soviet style, or Chinese style justice is this? Those cowards who want a safe utopia, and insist cops "do everything possible" to stop criminals are responsible for this. When I was a child, they used to send a couple of beat cops in to knock on the door and ask permission first. Realize that people not convicted, not tried, not even arrested or accused of a crime are shot and killed just so the police can effect a search in "complete safety." Police make mistakes, informants lie or information gets stale, so people are killed by military style operations for mere suspicion of a crime. This is NOT the USA I love, the land of the free and home of the brave. It has become the land of PC cowards, and home of the over-taxed and oppressed.
