Naugatuck Store Robbed at Gunpoint

Police seek information about the suspect.

The Cumberland Farms on North Main Street in the Union City section of Naugatuck was robbed at gunpoint at 3:20 a.m. Friday, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.

Police say a white man with a thin build walked into the store at 572 North Main St. wearing all black with a black scarf covering his face. He displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money, police say.

The clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, and the man ran out of the store, police said. He got into a dark-colored sport utility vehicle and drove north on Route 8 toward Waterbury, police say.

Nobody was injured during the incident and no shots were fired.

Police are searching for a suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 203.729.5222. All tips can be kept confidential.

See the attached photos that were taken from a store surveillance camera.

Oh my goodness, I am so glad no one was hurt but how scary for them. I sure hope someone knows something and comes forward. It's the RIGHT thing to do.

For the record, I posted it as breaking news - meaning the thousands of people who subscribe to our free daily newsletter and breaking news alerts got this in their email - as soon as I got it from police. So if there was a delay, it wasn't on our part.

Yeah I defiantly think your doing a great job Paul. Maybe the police should get the info out faster. I think it would benefit everyone. so no disrespect to you Paul. Keep up the good work.

Wow, that is daring. They always have a cop hanging out there trying to give tickets to people who get confused because there are two confusing stop signs at the end of the exit ramp. They must have had to drive across across town for Dunkin Donuts, because there are none serving that area.
