Construction debris destined for disposal caught fire in a train car Sunday afternoon at about 4:15 p.m. alongside White Turkey Road extension.
The was able to contain the blaze without damage to anything else, said Assistant Fire Chief Bernie Meehan, who was at the fire. Two tankers were called in from Brookfield to help douse the flames.
Meehan said the department received the call about about 4:15 p.m. and it was extinguished by 5 p.m. Because the train was parked along the tracks beside White Turkey Road, the department used a ladder truck to spray water on the burning car. There was no closer approach.
No one was injured in the fire, Meehan said.
