Federal Agents at Brookfield Home Thursday

FBI and Health and Human Services Inspectors were at the home of Dr. Samir Zaky on Thursday.

Federal agents and Brookfield police officers descended on 1 High Ridge Road Thursday morning, the residence of Dr. Samir Zaky, a podiatric surgeon with a practice in Bethel.

Officers from the New Haven branch of the FBI and agents of the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General(HHS-OIG), which primarily investigates health care insurance fraud, according to one agent on the scene, were on site much of the day and could be seen removing boxes from the home.

Neither the FBI nor the HHS-OIG would confirm the existence of an investigation, and would not confirm or deny that their officers were there. Don White, head of HHS-OIG Public Affairs, said the federal agency largely deals with Medicare and Medicaid, however, they do handle some interagency issues that would also require their involvement.
