Driver Killed Thursday Night Traveling South on Route 7 North

Two-car crash results in one dead and two in the hospital.

A car traveling the wrong way on Route 7 late Thursday night caused an accident that took his life and injured two passengers in another vehicle.

According to state police, Alejandro Miranda, 44, of Basset Street, Ansonia, was driving a Saturn L200 south on the northbound side of Route 7 shortly before 11:45 p.m. Thursday.

Michael Finn, 39, of Hollis Drive, Brookfield, and 29-year-old Meghan Harrison, of Deep Woods Lane, New Milford, were traveling north on Route 7 in Finn’s Jeep Wrangler when Miranda came into view, just north of exit 11.

Finn swerved to avoid Miranda, according to police, however the two vehicles collided head-on, forcing the Jeep’s left front tire up the hood of the Saturn and damaging the windshield, roof and entire left side.

Finn and Harrison were transported to Danbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Miranda sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
