Brookfield Police Warn of Grandparent Scam

A local couple fell victim to con artists pretending to be their grandchildren.

Brookfield police are warning local residents to be wary of person calling and claiming to be grandchildren in need of money due to an arrest or injury. A Brookfield couple recently fell victim to this scam.

Police advise residents to always verify information before sending any money to anyone. People should never give out any personal information over the telephone to persons who contact them unsolicited.

When in doubt — always verify and if the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
