Brookfield Man Crashes Stolen Car on Ironworks Tuesday Night

Local man arrested after allegedly stealing car and attempting to evade responsibility in an accident.

An accident on Ironworks Hill Road Tuesday night cut power to the neighborhood for almost an hour and resulted in the driver being charged with car theft and evading responsibility.

Brookfield police responded to the scene around 8:31 p.m. The vehicle’s driver, Joseph Aragi, 25, of Willow Run, Brookfield reportedly attempted to flee the scene, however he was quickly located by a plain clothes officer.

A roadside investigation was conducted and he was found to have a suspended license and driving a stolen vehicle.

Aragi was arrested and charged with larceny in the third degree (motor vehicle theft), evading responsibility, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was held on $10,000 bond pending arraignment on Aug. 28.

Residents in the area lost power for about 45 minutes to an hour as a result of the accident.
