Brookfield Man Charged with DUI, Other Infractions

Swerving and a broken brake light leads to a DUI charge.

Nicholas Romano, 25, of Mountainview Drive, Brookfield, was stopped while traveling northbound on Candlewood Lake Road on Sept. 18 after an officer observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane in addition to having a broken right stop lamp.

While speaking with the driver, officers determined it was necessary to administer standardized field sobriety tests and Romano was subsequently taken into custody.

He was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, failure to have reflective or lighting devices of proper color, operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and failure to carry an insurance card.

Romano was released on $500 bond with a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 1.
