Brookfield Man Arrested on 2nd Elderly Assault Charge

85-year-old Brookfield resident arrested for assaulting another elderly person for the second time in a week.

The 85-year-old Brookfield man was taken into police custody again on September 7 after a similar altercation took place at his residence on Federal Road, this time resulting in a laceration to the victim’s arm.

Police were called to 883 Federal Road shortly after 5 p.m. on September 7 on reports of a violent domestic dispute that allegedly included a knife and several 9-1-1 hangups.

Once officers arrived at the scene, Caesar Dambrowski gave himself up and, after an investigation, was placed under arrest for assault on an elderly person, disorderly conduct, two counts of interfering with an emergency call and criminal violation of a protective order.

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for a laceration to the arm.

Bond was set at $5,000 for a court date on September 10 and Dambrowski was released pending a hearing on October 1, in which he is expected to submit a plea.

A psych or neurologic review sounds like a comman sense first step. An 85 year old lashing out can be a sign of dementia, depression or other changes in mental state. A review of his medications is also probably prudent to see if there are any new medications that could have interactions that produce changes in behavior. This is a sad situation and the elderly without adequate support of family members or the community are at risk for lots of negative outcomes.

once is a restraining order, twice is a felony. i would think the arresting officers would check his medications and his liquor cabinet. it is though a truly sad situation, an 85year old man arrested for probably the first time in his life, facing spending time in bridgeport CCI before his 2 cases are heard and possibly prison for his actions. for the ladder of law has no age limitations.

I agree completely Gail. There are no justifications for attacking people without being held to personal responsibility and accountability for the act if found guilty.

Remember the 85 year Brookfield resident with a gun at Danbury Hospital just last year who attacked the nurse doing their duty to care for the sick and dying. Could it be something in the water? Radon perhaps over many years? Has there been a study done?
