A Brookfield man allegedly led police on a multi-town chase after two failed burglary attempts, according to reports from the Bethel Police Department. While police erred on the side of caution during the chase, according to reports, the man was given away by his license plate and promptly arrested.
The alleged chase began when a resident on Far Horizons Drive in Bethel called to report someone was trying to break into their house. Police showed up and searched the area — then got a call from another resident on Hawleyville reporting an intruder.
When they responded to the second call, police allegedly found 28-year-old Michael Bardani of Brookfield getting in his car to flee. One officer tried to get into the car to stop Bardani, according to reports, but only managed to break the handle off the locked door.
Another Bethel officer allegedly took off in pursuit of Bardani in a chase that led into Brookfield, but backed off out of concerns for safety. Still, according to reports, Bardani's license plate gave him away. Officers allegedly tracked the plate to a home in Brookfield and waited for Bardani to arrive -- at which point he was promptly arrested, according to reports.
