Two Rollover Accidents Near Switchback Curves on N. Mountain Road

Is there a more difficult stretch of road in Brookfield than the steep switchbacks on North Mountain Road?

Two cars went off the road around the same time while navigating the curves on North Mountain Road early Tuesday morning.

Brookfield police, fire and EMS responded to both scenes. No injuries were reported in either accident.

A resident that lives on Gereg Glen Road, a street off North Mountain Road near one of the accidents, said drivers who don’t know the area can get caught off guard, particularly on the steep slope from Flax Hill Road down to the switchbacks before reservoir, though for locals it’s rarely a problem.

“It’s not so bad in these conditions,” said Bob, who preferred not to give his last name, noting the sunny, if not unseasonably cold day.

However, when the weather turns bad it can be difficult to maneuver safely, Bob added. “Though we’re always the first ones to get cleared.”
