Patch's Poll: Should Rush Limbaugh Be Fired?

The talk radio host's attack on a young woman over birth control has created a firestorm. What do you think?

On Sunday, The Washington Post asked if conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh has had his "Imus moment." The backlash continues to grow against Limbaugh in the wake of his attack on Georgetown Sandra Fluke, who spoke at a Democratic panel in support of insurance coverage for birth-control costs.

On his show, Limbaugh called her a slut and a prostitute and encouraged her to post videos of herself having sex so “so we can see what we’re getting for our money.”

Since then, a number of advertisers have dropped Limbaugh's show, he issued a statement saying his “choice of words was not the best” and that he was attempting to be humorous.

What do you think? Should Limbaugh be fired? Should his advertisers be boycotted? Take our poll and add your thoughts in the comments.

What do you mean by "filthy minds"? Someone who announces on a radio program that he wants a coed to make a sex video for him to view?

My Dear Ed: I have no response to your display of vulgar insults that serves as a substitute for any real knowledge of the issue... except maybe I can clear up your misconception of "freebies." The contraception issue has nothing to do with tax dollars ("freebies' in your mind.) It is about a segment of women's healthcare being covered by her employer-provided medical insurance which, I might add, is part of the total salary or hourly rate package. Last I heard, in order to get paid money and medical benefits, one had to be working... get it?... working! Limbaugh, in his feigned outrage, would like you to believe taxpayers are footing the bill. Please, take the time to read the proposed legislature. And, one last thing... lighten up a little. You sound so angry and miserable. Maybe some Yoga or water color painting might help relieve your stress and anxiety. I hear that staying away from right-wing, hate radio works, too. If it will make you feel any better, I still wouldn't call for Limbaugh to be fired, although I wouldn't mind seeing him moved to a home shopping channel selling Sham-Wows.

Jacobo: This GOP attack on reproductive healthcare and family planning is the closest thing I've seen to imposing Sharia Law on women in this country and its getting down-right scary. There is that debacle in Virginia where the GOP- controlled state legislature voted to force women to have transvaginal ultrasounds without her concent when she is considering an abortion and, just today, New Hampshire's Tea Party-led state legislature passed a repeal of contraception coverage, with one GOP lawmaker saying that birth control pills cause prostate cancer, while another proposed that married couples practice abstinence unless they are trying to conceive a child. Pretty soon women will be back home, barefoot & pregnant, and not allowed to leave the house without a Burga.

"Burga", Did you mean a " hamburger". A cheeseburger maybe. Or a Big Mac. Why would anyone want women to walk around with a burger. You have to remember to keep it "simple" for us dumbo townies.
