Are you ready to relax, rejuvenate and throw any stress to the wind, if only for an hour or two? Near or far, spas have become a most relished destination, and our area has its fair share.
Prepare to be pampered by professional, well-trained and welcoming staff at these local spas. In the time you can say "spaaaaah," you will be well on your way to repose.
1. Candlewood Day Spa 14 Candlewood Lake Road, Brookfield
With its colorful hues and clean lines, Candlewood Day Spa offers an extensive menu of massage, body treatments and full hair and nail services. The 7,000 square foot spa “combine[s] the traditional far Eastern elements of wood, earth, fire and water to purify and harmonize your life,” according to its website.

If relaxation and rejuvenation are on your list, try the “Quick Facial” (30 minutes, $50) or perhaps the “Anti-Aging Restoration Facial” (70 minutes, $135), one of the most popular services that clients return for, Donna at the front desk told me. For an all-over body experience, choose a Table Thai massage (60 minutes, $110) or luxuriate with an Aroma Couples massage, including chocolate and wine (60 minutes, $200). 2. Eurolux Salon and Day Spa 317 Federal Road, Unit C, Brookfield
This local spa destination provides an array of facial and massage treatments combined with full salon services. It is where “European technique and American luxury merge,” as noted on its website. Massage clients have access to private locker rooms and infrared sauna, and receive a complementary glass of wine.
Prepare to be transported when selecting treatments such as the Seaweed Detoxification Body Wrap ($85); Signature Body Polish ($85); Swedish ($90); deep tissue ($100) and prenatal massage ($120, after 3 months); and any of the 15 varieties of facials including the European Deep Pore Cleansing ($95) and Power for men ($110). 3. Massage Envy Spa 49 Federal Road, Brookfield
Massage Envy, a franchise-based spa offering massage and facials, takes a unique approach to these services by offering membership with a variety of benefits. Among these perks are heavily reduced prices on services and reciprocal benefits at Massage Envy locations nationwide. Non-members are always welcome.
When it comes to easing stress, the massage therapists “provide exceptional care and will design an effective customized massage treatment to address your individual needs,” according to its website.
Massage options include Trigger Point Therapy, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Reflexology and other techniques.
Rates vary according to membership status. A one-hour massage is $98 for non-members and $49 for members. A $49 introductory massage (50 minutes) and a $59 introductory Healthy Skin facial session (60 minutes) are available to new clients.

4. Dawn’s Pizzazz 81 West Street, Danbury
Located in a house in the heart of Danbury for the last 14 years, Dawn’s Pizazz is a full-service salon and spa offering a broad menu of services including facials, massage, body treatments, make-up and more.
The staff is “completely dedicated to providing [each client] with a superior service. [Clients] will leave feeling relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated,” according to the website.
“Greater Danbury’s award-winning salon and day spa” services include facials such as the European-style ($70), firming and anti-aging (both $80-$90), mini and teen options (both $50-60). In addition to 30-, 60- and 90-minute Swedish ($45-$110), deep tissue ($55-$130), prenatal ($45-$110) and other massage services, clients can select from body treatments such as an Enzymatic Body Peel ($115), Detox Body Wrap ($125) or Tired Leg and Foot treatment ($35).
Jonna, salon manager, said one of the most popular spa services is their chemical exfoliation treatment ($120-130).

5. Joe’s Salon & Spa 25 Bank Street, New Milford
This full-service salon and spa is situated on the town’s charming “main” street just off the town green. Joe’s has been recognized by Salon Today to be among “the top 200 salons in the country,” according to its website.
Distinctive spa services range from the popular Yonka Classic Aromatherapy facial (60 minutes, $85) and a men’s skin fitness facial (60 minutes, $75), to the Brown Sugar Rub Body ($60 minutes, $100) and Seaweed with Brinewrap (60 minutes,$115).
Massage offerings include Swedish (60 minutes, $85), Therapeutic (60 minutes, $85; 90 minutes, $125) and Hot Stone (60 minutes, $90).
The salon opened its doors more than 25 years ago. The spa, now six years strong, is co-owned by salon owner Karen Ross and Pam Picheco.
