'Leave Them Alone and Take Care of Your Pets’

A look at the day's comments from Patch account holders in the region.

From Brookfield Readers:

CT Ranked One of the Least Generous States

“The shame in this is that America is a country founded on the concept of philanthropy. Our government was never set up to be as centralized as the European counterparts from which we sprang, so when a charitable cause needed to be undertaken, it was up to the citizens of this country to build it.” –

From Neighboring Patch Towns:

“It was a dark and stormy night - and of course we had lots of rum, ginger beer and limes on hand...” -

Buffoon of the Week: Vice President Joe Biden

“So scary that he is a heartbeat away from the Presidency.” -

Spencer's Run Swipe Card Registration Starts Fall

“I don't go there anymore because it was too rough for my dog. I don't see why my tax dollars should go to support it. I like the idea that the people who are going will be paying.” –

Lawyer Alleges Illegal Contractor ‘Favoritism’ for New Levitt Project in Westport

“How is this about Obama. You sound like another disgruntled tea bagger who can't read anything without interjecting their personal agenda which includes their hatred of Obama.” –

Mapping Coyotes and Other Predators in Orange: "There's a Lot of Wildlife in Suburbia"

“Humans infringing on land has created a terrible problem for wildlife, they have very little space to roam. Leave them alone and take care of your pets and don't leave them outside unattended.” -

THS Still to Open Aug. 27, But is it Ready?

“As though we are witnessing the layers of some complex onion being unwound...we are glimpsing the incestuous relationship between corrupt Bridgeport and Trumbull.” -

Ridgefield Unemployment Rises with Rest of CT

“It’s like a guy who says to his wife, the economy is terrible, not enough income, lets go out and buy a new home. When they can’t pay the mortgage, the guy says ‘I told you the economy is bad.’ Nothing short of dumb.” –

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.

So Mandarin Chinese won't be a requirement? Perhaps Manchurin Chinese? Cantonese Chinese? MongolianRead More Chinese? Which Chinese are the British speaking these days? Their empire stretched in the Hindu speaking parts of Asia but they aren't teaching Hindu. A quandry indeed.

The board of education's policy should pertain to all employees of the Brookfield Board ofRead More Education.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.

I will lend a hand by voting yes for the school budget this Tuesday, May 21st. Teachers should notRead More have to pay out of pocket for school supplies.

Interesting that representative Scribner fails to represent Brookfield's businesses choosing insteadRead More to focus on Ridgefields.
