A vignette and quote from our newly elected Selectman from a 1997 article in the NYTimes:

Last spring, the school board voted 5-2 to continue the safe-zone program. William Tinsley voted against the measure, and he has signed the latest petition.

''I think it's very bad public policy to set aside a special area for anyone who needs help,'' he said. Mr. Tinsley said he believes students confused about their sexuality should get professional help to change their behavior.
