Obituary: Marie A. Muricchio

Marie Muricchio died on November 23, 2011 at the age of 75.

Marie Muricchio, of Brookfield, died on Wednesday, November 23, at Danbury Hospital, while holding her daughter's hand.

Muricchio was born in Danbury on November 14, 1936. She was the only child of Marguerite Rose and Peter Pieragnoli. She attended Danbury Schools and was employed by Eagle Pencil/Berol for 10 years.

She married Thomas Muricchio on September 15, 1962 and moved to Brookfield where she became very active with St. Joseph Church in Brookfield. There she served as Eucharistic Minister and on the Hospitality Committee. She was also an active member of the 55 Plus Club and a member of AARP in Brookfield.

In addition to her loving husband of 49 years, Thomas, she is also survived by her son, Stephen Muricchio and his wife Kerry of Beacon Falls; her daughter, Marguerite Morrison and her husband William of Danbury; two grandsons who Marie adored, Riley and Liam Muricchio of Beacon Falls. Marie is also survived by her cousins, Marilyn Chisholm of Danbury, Chris Lincoln of Newtown, Brian Repole of San Antonio, TX, Marita Repole of Danbury and Anita Harrington of Shelter Island, NY.

Muricchio loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid card player, and loved watching her favorite soap opera, “As The World Turns”. She spent many days at the Danbury, Brookfield and Bethel Senior Centers enjoying the company of friends and playing bridge. She had a passion for many simple things such as good food with family and friends, a deer walking in the yard or a picnic at one of the state parks with her family.

The Muricchio family would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors in the Danbury Hospital ICU for all of their care and concern for Marie during her illness.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, November 27 at Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, November 28 at St. Joseph Church, 159 Whisconier Rd., Brookfield. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
