Martha DeLay, 96

August 12, 1916 — July 12, 2012

Martha M. DeLay, 96, of Brookfield, wife of the late Thomas Douglas DeLay, died Thursday, July 12 at Masonicare of Newtown. Martha was born August 12, 1916 in New York City, NY, daughter of the late Peter and Josephine (Suldan) Bych.

Martha worked at a Personal/Payroll Secretary for the Southbury Training School. She was also a teletype operator for Marine Midland Trust Co.

Martha is survived by her son, Richard Douglas DeLay and his wife Carol of Durham, NC; two daughters, Marilyn Hassiak and her husband Donald of New Milford and Kathryn Gaffney and her husband Fred of Syracuse, NY; six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Martha is predeceased by her grandson, Officer Donald J. Hassiak II.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 16 at Sacred Heart Church, 46 Stone Street, Danbury. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury.
