Former longtime Brookfield resident John Howard Clarke, 70, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011. He was born in Massachusetts, son of the late William and Virginia Clarke,
Clarke graduated from Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, VA, and then joined the US Coast Guard. During his service in the Coast Guard, he was on an Ice Breaker ship in Antarctica.

He is survived by a sister, Cyrissa Lubeck, and her family in Texas; a daughter, Jennifer Clarke Williams, of Phoenix, AZ; a son, Christian Clarke, of Boulder, CO; and some good friends. He will be interred in the Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery in Dublin.
