Frank LaBarbera, 64

May 05, 1948 - January 14, 2013

Frank Joseph LaBarbera, 64, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 14. He was the son of the late Francis Gaspar LaBarbera and Antoinette Lorraine LaBarbera. Frank was born on May 5, 1948 in Yonkers, New York. He grew up in Yonkers alongside his grandparents, who emigrated from Italy through Ellis Island.

Frank graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers and soon after, met his life mate, best friend and wife, Louise Doyle. He worked at the water tunnel and a shoe store until moving to Brookfield, Connecticut, where he and his wife started a family and were blessed with two children, Lauren and Frank. In business with his father at the Bus Stop variety store in Danbury, Frank ventured into another career by establishing Bob the Baker with his cousin, Bobby Gianserra. This business provided 20 years of bread distribution from New York to Connecticut.

Frank spent his younger years traveling with his family, watching Pop Warner, Brookfield, and Southern Connecticut State University football games. He enjoyed indulging his daughter and watching her dance and perform. He loved deep sea fishing, nights out to dinner, Broadway shows, the racetrack, and poker games with friends. His generosity was exemplified by numerous gifts to animal and children’s charities.

He adored his grandsons — Michael, Francis, Ryan and Nicholas. He loved to tell them stories, many of which were embellished from his own creative mind. Although it appeared he was confined to his house in his later years, he experienced the world through the eyes of his grandchildren. After years of fishing and traveling, his home became his oasis and visits from his family and friends were always a reason to celebrate.

Frank was a dedicated, diligent, hard working, and gentle provider. Frank’s legacy, along with his charming smile and warm heart will be forever remembered by his wife, Louise, daughter Lauren Teixeira (Michael), son Frank LaBarbera (Nicole), grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
