Boyscout Troop 135 Hits the Water

Boyscout Troop 135 goes on their June Campout and hits Lake Lillinonah with tubes and knee boards!

I arrive at Prince of Peace at 4:47 p.m. only a couple of minutes late. I run over to where everyone's gear is, drop mine and go up to help fill water jugs. Soon all of the water jugs are full and I am carrying the last one down. We do roll call to find out that Brandon Z. will meet us at the campsite. With 16 boys and 11 leaders we are ready to leave.

Soon enough we are in the cars and leaving for the Lillinonah camp site that is right here in Brookfield.  We get there and my patrol immediately starts setting up our patrol gear. Within 45 minutes all patrols are set up and ready to go tubing for an hour or two.

I am on Mr. Miller’s boat and on a tube getting pulled at 30 miles per hour down the lake. We tube for an hour and a half and then get out the knee board and go knee boarding which was a blast. After that I am in Brandon's tent playing some cards. That is when I realize I forgot my mat at home and will be sleeping on rocks for the night.

Saturday morning we wake up to rain.   I wake up early and roll up my sleeping bag because I am leaving later that day. Soon enough my whole patrol is up and we are cooking some delicious pancakes for breakfast. By 8:30 a.m. we are done cleaning up and the whole troop is trying to gather dry wood for a fire. By 11 O’clock we have a small fire going for when we get back from boating.

I go on Mr. Miller’s boat again for an hour.  I learned that you should try not to get the rope stuck in the propeller because you get some pretty bad whiplash after that. We go in for lunch and my patrol makes some cheese or chicken and cheese quesadilla’s for lunch. We’re done early and try to restoke the fire that went out. By 1:30 p.m. I am on Mr. Lauri’s boat going tubing.

I am on a flat red tube with Jake Urvina while Kirk Lauri and Zach are on a different flat tube. They hit a wake and go flying over us for the jump of the day.  Boy I wish I had my camera for that one!  What a great picture it would have been.

We then go wakeboarding and I learned that just like on Wii sports resort if you turn back real quick and hit the wake you do get air. When Mr. Lauri  hit some wakes off another boat is when I lost my balance and fell for the third time.

We finally head back to camp to get dinner started. My patrol makes pizza from scratch (except for the dough). I found out that it did not come out good. We then have a huge discussion about Star Wars and Star Trek. I finish packing up, get changed and leave at 8:30 p.m. so that I could rest up and be ready for my big confirmation the next day.
