Photographic Mentoring Programs

Two photographic mentoring programs for high school students with renown photographer Laurie Klein

Photographic Mentorships Programs for High Schools Students, Fall 2012

Senior High School Students:

A few years ago, Laurie Klein began a mentor program for seniors from local high schools that runs from September through December. Due to the intensity of the program, Laurie is only working with a small group of students. They meet once a week for two-three hours at Laurie’s Gallery in Brookfield. She will provide assignments, work on techniques,  provide feedback on their work and will help them to build and further develop their portfolio. The program will culminate with a gallery exhibit that the students will learn how to produce.

  • Commitment to follow through with the program from beginning to end.
  • Check out Laurie’s web site and familiarize yourself with her work. www.laurieklein.com
  • A portfolio, which can be on line or a DVD, of 12-15 images or email her the photos.
  • A letter of recommendation from their art/photography teacher or advisor (each BHS art teacher recommends their top photography student)
  • A bio/resume about yourself
  • A paragraph on why you feel that you are a good candidate for this internship and another paragraph on your future goals after graduation.

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.
