Spend An Hour To Save A Special Dog's Life

Please spare an hour of your time to help us save the life of a dog that desperately needs our help.

Tabitha is a special dog. She spent the first 7 months of her life in an abandoned building, tied up in a room all alone. She had no socialization with dogs or people, and was kept alive by a homeless man who threw her food.

When Animal Control rescued her and her siblings, she was brought to the pound. Danbury Animal Welfare Society volunteer, Theresa Bridgewater, took Tabitha and her siblings from the pound to the DAWS shelter.

DAWS volunteers could see that these dogs needed to experience life in a home in order to be ready for adoption. Tabitha came to live with me. For almost 8 months she lived in my home. She wouldn't eat if we were looking at her. She huddled in the corner of her crate almost all day. She would not let me pet her. She never wagged her tail.

Though I worked day in and day out to earn her trust, her early experiences stayed with her.

The volunteer that pulled her out of the pound never forgot her. Theresa Bridgewater visited her at my home often, finally adopting her. I am confident that no one else would have. Tabitha needed a special person to give her the love and patience that would bring her out of the shell that months of neglect had created. Theresa was that person.

Wedneday night, Tabitha escpaed while Theresa was dog sitting for a family on Ox Drive in Brookfield.

Theresa is heartbroken. Tabitha is not like other dogs. Though she has come a long way under Theresa's care, she won't come to a stranger out of hunger or thirst.

Tabitha has beaten so many odds. I know she can beat one more. Please help us find her.

She has been spotted in the area from which escpaed 4 times in the past 2 days. We need a large group of volunteers looking at the same time in order to find her.

There are 2 search efforts taking place on Saturday July, 28. One is at 9:30am. One is at 4:30pm. Please, spare an hour of your time and join us. We will meet on Ox Drive in Brookfield. Look for the group.

If you can volunteer just an hour of your time, please let us know by filling out this Google form which we are using to organize volunteers. If you have any questions, contact me at laura@lauraorban.com or (203) 794-4709.

Please help us get Tabitha home.
