Brookfield PEP Talk — Parents, Use Your Voice

We need information but we need it our way. That's the goal of PEP Talk

I keep my calendar on my phone. Between work meetings, personal appointments, my kids’ schedules and family commitments, I would never get anywhere I’m supposed to be without it. When I started syncing with Google calendar it got even better because now I know I will never lose it.

I understand how busy parents and families are these days. And I understand how hard it is to add coming to town meetings and seeking out extra information on top of that.

But we parents need to do something.

We need to do something because as we learned last year, . And when we don’t vote, our children and families are affected. We run ourselves ragged all week to provide a certain kind of life for our families. Meanwhile decisions are being made all the time that will affect our children’s education, our streets, neighborhoods, parks and more.

Parents need the information but we need it our way. We need it in manageable chunks. We need it in the places we already go for information. And we need easy ways to ask questions.

PEP — Parents Empowering Parents

To that end, we have created Brookfield PEP Talk. PEP Talk has just that mission. Our goal is to empower busy parents with the concise news we need to make informed decisions about local issues and votes that affect our families.

We have a website with a blog. You can subscribe to get updates there. We are on Facebook, you can like us there. We are on Twitter. And you can join our email list.

However you choose to get your news, we will get it to you.

Don’t have any background on an issue? That’s OK. Most of us don’t. Our information will be written for the newcomer, not the expert.

Have a question? Ask! That’s what social media is for. Post on our wall, tweet us, send us an email or leave a comment on our website. We’ll get you what you need.

We’ve invited each member of the Board of Selectman, the Board of Finance and the Board of Education to participate. So you won’t just hear from us.

We are not affiliated with any political party. We do not accept donations. If you sign up for email updates, we will not use your email address for any other purpose, nor will we share it. Ever. There’s no catch. We just want to get parents the information we all need to get involved.

Choose email, Facebook, Twitter — whatever you prefer. Just pick one now. That's all you need to do.

PEP Talk is for you. This needs to work for you. It’s OK to be busy. But we have to make our voices heard. On behalf of our children, we have to get just a little more active. That is our mission.

Have suggestions? Let us know in the comments.

Hope to see you on PEP Talk.
