Thoughts on Scientology

The term "Scientology" is bantered about with little understanding.

With all the recent press coverage and hoopla over Tom Cruise, I realized that the term "Scientology" was being bantered about with little understanding. Perhaps I should qualify that statement..."I" certainly am ignorant about this practice. Having done some research, I will share the following: Scientology is a religion developed by L.Ron Hubbard "leading to a complete and certain understanding of one's true self and one's relationship to self, family, groups, Mankind, all life forms, the material universe, the spiritual universe and the SUPREME BEING." Now I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed AND I certainly advocate religious freedom for all... however, after reading this my first thought was introspective and profound — "Oh."  The Church of Scientology goes on to state, "Scientology comprises a body of knowledge which extends from certain fundamental truths." Continuing, " Prime among these are:

Man is an immortal spiritual being.
His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime.
His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized.

I'm trying terribly hard to be objective and diplomatic, yet again I thought, "Well, to each his own I guess." These idealizations aren't tickling my spiritual funny bone. As a Christian, I need to say that I  disagree with these "Truths," and I won't extrapolate for fear of being evangelical.

I don't know Tom,.. never spent time hangin' with him conversing about a Supreme Being, Christ, Buddha, Allah or any existential and spiritual matters. I'd imagine that he is an interesting person and I'll applaud his acting capabilities. When it comes to the practice of Scientology, however I choose to put the topic to cognizant "rest." Live and let live.

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.
