Animals For Sale

A Penny for My Thoughts

Another PET STORE has opened in Danbury. Stores that sell live animals always leave me feeling angry and with a pit in my stomach. In fact, they bring tears to my eyes. Most often, pet store puppies and kittens start their lives at Puppy Mills or Catteries. Deceptive, the store management will proclaim that this isn't so- that their animals are all from reputable breeders. Few, if any reputable breeders would allow their treasured (and expensive) purebreds to be housed where germs are rampant and ignorant people will be handling them.

Mills of this kind are still operating nationwide. Caged around the clock, animals live in feces and urine, eat a substandard diet, are riddle with internal and external parasites and receive zero veterinary care. These creatures NEVER roll in the grass, chase a toy or hear, " What a good one you are." Mills hold hundreds of breeding adults and their offspring...a dead pup or two,  a dead litter of kittens are not an issue. "Rescuing" one of these pets only perpetuates this atrocity. I beg you to not even enter such an establishment as this will only serve to keep them in business.

Pet Stores rely heavily on impulse purchasing. It is hard to resist those sweet faces or your child's pleadings. Recall, however, that the fat check you give them is only the tip of the iceberg. After buying all the supplies you'll need, after vaccinations and spaying/neutering, a veterinarian may inform you that your little one is either sick or genetically flawed. Millions of unwanted domestic mammals (young ones included) are shelter, euthanized, or abandoned annually. Many began life in one of these disgusting facilities.

Please thoroughly research ownership responsibilities before obtaining any animal. Please visit a shelter or a breed specific rescue organization to find your pet.  Please Google ' Puppy Mills' and see these horrors yourself, and please don't be swayed by a salesperson. Finally, please, NEVER set foot in a store that sells animals.

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.

So Mandarin Chinese won't be a requirement? Perhaps Manchurin Chinese? Cantonese Chinese? MongolianRead More Chinese? Which Chinese are the British speaking these days? Their empire stretched in the Hindu speaking parts of Asia but they aren't teaching Hindu. A quandry indeed.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.

I will lend a hand by voting yes for the school budget this Tuesday, May 21st. Teachers should notRead More have to pay out of pocket for school supplies.

Interesting that representative Scribner fails to represent Brookfield's businesses choosing insteadRead More to focus on Ridgefields.

You certainly have a way with words. Why does it "suck"?
