The Brookfield Democratic Town Committee Endorses Obama, Biden, Esty and Riiska, Reaffirms Support for Murphy

All yours, Aaron.

The Brookfield Democratic Town Committee has formally endorsed Democratic Candidates Barack Obama (President), Joe Biden (Vice President), Elizabeth Esty (U.S. Congress) and William Riiska (Connecticut’s 30th Senate District). The BDTC has also reaffirmed it’s enthusiastic support for and endorsement of Chris Murphy to be Connecticut’s next U.S. Senator.

These are all outstanding candidates, each with a record of significant achievement, each showing a dedication to principals and programs that are important to all.  In this important election year, the BDTC is excited to have a group of strong Democratic candidates who will move us forward.

Chris Murphy was first elected to represent the 5th Congressional District in 2006, where he has been actively involved in both local and national legislation and initiatives. He is the founder of the bi-partisan Buy American Caucus to ensure that U.S. companies are incentivized to create jobs here at home. He has a 97% voting record in Congress, while being considered ‘omnipresent’ in CT due to his commitment to knocking on doors year round and holding dozens of supermarket office hours.  Chris has been a longtime friend to Brookfield, visiting often and helping our town in a variety of ways.

Elizabeth Esty served as both a member of the town council in her hometown of Chesire and as a state legislator. She earned a reputation as a deficit hawk, while keeping a strong focus on issues important to CT families such as health care, Social Security and Medicare.

Bill Riiska is an attorney with a long record of public service. He currently serves on the boards of the United Way of Northwest Connecticut and of the Northwest Connecticut Chamber Education Foundation. Past public service positions include Chair of the Government Relations Committee of the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Norfolk Planning & Zoning Commission, President of the Northwest Center for Family Service and Mental Health and member of the Board of the Northwest Connecticut Economic Development Corporation. Bill has a broad knowledge of the people of the district and the issues they face. He also has a proven ability to work with people of all political stripes to get things done.

You can learn more about our Democratic candidates by visiting the BDTC website at www.brookfielddemocrats.org.  The election in November is critical, and we urge all to get informed and get involved.

The mission of the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee is to create a positive vision for Brookfield's future that preserves the vibrancy of our town, and enhances opportunities for all residents. We work to increase participation in the electoral process by supporting qualified candidates for local, state and national office, taking positions on local issues, and connecting people who want to get involved with opportunities to do so. The BDTC meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm in Room 209 of Brookfield Town Hall. We invite anyone who has an interest in becoming active in our community to come and learn more about who we are and what we do. We believe the strongest communities are those which embrace the broadest spectrum of people and ideas.

The BDTC urges everyone to vote on November 6th to keep us all moving forward.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.

You certainly have a way with words. Why does it "suck"?
