Workout 101

Important tips to keep in mind before starting to workout.

Holiday season is upon us. Soon we will be sitting down for a Thanksgiving feast, doing our holiday shopping, sitting down for another feast, bringing in the New Year, and partying some more (with undoubtedly food and alcohol). Before you know it, you are 10 pounds heavier, your pants are tight, and you are talking about resolutioins.

Don't wait! Get in the habit of exercising now...if you aren't already.

For those of you that are just getting started (or want to get started) with your journey into the world of fitness, there are some important things that you must remember.  Those who rush into a workout program without being fully prepared may find that they make some big mistakes along the way and fail to see the results that they were after.

Let’s have a quick peak at a few of these main tips that you need to keep in mind.

1) Learn Proper Form

The very first thing that you must remember as you get started with your workout program is that having good form is a must. Those who don’t use good form will either wind up injured or end up with a lot of effort put forth but without any results to show for it.  To prevent yourself from using improper form, take some time at the very beginning to learn good form using little to no weight while you do the exercises.

2) Get Smart About Nutrition

The next thing that you must do is make sure you get smart about your nutrition.  Making sure that you eat a good source of protein and carbs before and after a workout session will guarantee that you have enough fuel to get through that workout and that you feel your best at all times.

3) Have Some Good Goals Set

The third thing that you must be doing if you hope to set yourself up for success is making sure that you have some good goals set. Don't underestimate this! I have been in this game a long time. Those that set tangible goals have a higher success rate. Those that write them down and refer to them daily...even higher!

4) Remember The Value Of Rest

Last but not least, remember the value of rest.  If you aren’t resting enough between your workouts, you’re going to burnout very quickly and may start to get over trained.

So there you have the main things to consider as you go about your workout program.  By using these tips to get prepared, you can be sure you’re taking a step forward in the right direction.

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.
