Brookfield Volunteer Fire Co Annual Kid's Day

The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company will hold its annual open house event “Kids Day” Sunday, June 3rd, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Though the event is called Kids Day, it is anything but just for kids. The fire company offers fire prevention and safety for the whole community.

The membership provides demonstrations and practice for getting out alive through the use of a fire safety trailer, stop, drop and roll, and dialing 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency. They also team with outside agencies including the Brookfield Police Department to speak with residents about car seat safety and the importance of seatbelts as well as the local Rotary Club to photograph children for the Amber Alert program.

Firefighters will perform a live burn scenario in conjunction with the State of Connecticut Fire Marshall’s arson detection canine.  The whole day is sponsored by the fire company, who also provide refreshments for all who attend and, of course, fire truck rides!
