Have you double checked with the Hospital about transport services? I think the hospital has some transport services for some types of chronic care done on an outpatient basis. What comes to mind is transport for patients that need to be treated at Praxair center for chemo or radiation. Not sure if it transport is available on weekends or whether it extends to Brookfield. If they transport for Praxair which is chronic outpatient type care you would think dialysis would fit under this same chronic outpatient care umbrella.

Depends on the volunteers. People volunteer for different reasons.

We have checked with social worker at dialysis and they did not even know about the service I found for $150. A week. On a fixed income this is a hardship. He would qualify for transport if he had cancer. I live 2 hours away and get there as much as I can. Thanks for your response, Gina

Terri O'Brien Coleman posted the following on the Brookfield Patch Facebook page: "I am sure The Giving Tree can help! 203 702 4441 ... Jaimie, The Giving Tree is a not for profit community organization that My husband Glenn Coleman and I started in April of 2011. I am reaching out to some of the members. It is quite simple a community action group! www.thegivingtreeofct.org We will begin the process of getting people signed up, but in reality I was kind of sad when Gina told me I was the only one that called her. I think everyone always thinks it will be done by someone else! So I am going person to person asking! Please repost contact information for The Giving Tree maybe more will get involved! 203 702 4441."

Call the First Selectman's office. Brookfield is all about people helping people. I'm sure they'll help.
