'Traditional Christmas' Family Day Open House Saturday at Brookfield Museum

This open house is a must see visit for families that is guaranteed to get everyone into the spirit of the season.

Emily Dlugozima of Brookfield sits by a vintage 1950s Howdy Doody doll perched in 1970s Mercedes pedal car which will be on display at this year’s “Traditional Christmas” Family Day open house to be held at the Brookfield Museum on Saturday, December 15 from noon to 4 p.m. Many attractions for children and grown-ups will highlight the event to include a visit from Santa who will stop by with his helpers bearing complimentary treats for the kids.

The sight of model trains in a winter display, will entertain kids of all ages, while the sound of an antique music box will fill the air with well-known Christmas musical classics. A winter Christmas tree scene with boy and girl mannequins which appeared in a Macy’s New York Christmas display window scene in the early 1950s will bring back cherished memories.

Many classic, dolls, toys and even a miniature model amusement park featuring working attractions like the parachute jump, ferris wheel, merry-go-round, ice skating rink and much more are sure to amaze on- lookers. In addition attendees will enjoy complimentary home made Christmas cookies, as well as hot chocolate and mulled cider. Carolers will also be on hand to sing favorite seasonal songs. A children’s scavenger hunt will challenge the participants to seek out hidden items.
