American Cancer Society: Cancer Prevention Study-3

What if you could prevent even one family from hearing the words “You have cancer”?

Become part of the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3), and you can make this possible by completing periodic surveys about your health, lifestyle habits, and family history. Your involvement will help American Cancer Society researchers better understand the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer, which will ultimately save lives. After an initial enrollment appointment, you will be mailed surveys to complete at home throughout the long-term commitment of the study.

Who can join the study?

The study is open to anyone who is between the ages of 30 and 65, and has never been diagnosed with cancer (not including basal or squamous cell skin cancer).

How can you participate?

1. Choose your enrollment location and register for an appointment at cancer.org/cps3NE.
2. Go to your appointment where you will be asked to read and sign an informed consent form, complete a brief written survey, have your waist measured, and give a small blood sample drawn by a trained, certified phlebotomist.
3. Complete a more detailed survey that will be mailed to you at home. This survey will ask for information on lifestyle, behavioral, and other factors related to your health. Periodically, you will receive a survey at home to update that information. All information will be confidential and used only for this study.

What else can you do?

Tell everyone you know about this historic opportunity to save more lives and fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community.
