First Selectman Debate: Renovating Huckleberry and... Pensions

The candidates find some agreement before getting back to pension funding.

First Selectman candidates Howard Lasser (D) and Bill Tinsley (R) answered 10 questions in an hour-long debate sponsored by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce.

For the third question, the candidates were told to address the need to renovate Huckleberry Hill Elementary School. They were able to agree that the project should be a priority for the town but the back-and-forth quickly reverted to pension funding.

The candidates needled each other on pensions and personality, though a longer discussion of pensions was still to come.

See the candidates’ opening remarks and views on economic development and funding infrastructure maintenance.
