First Selectman Debate: Balancing Use of Fund Balance

Candidates agree on how much but not how to spend.

Brookfield’s candidates for First Selectman — Democrat Howard Lasser and Republican Bill Tinsley — discussed the appropriate amount of funds that should be kept in the town’s fund balance.

Lasser and Tinsley, both former members of the Board of Finance, agreed on the percent of the town budget that should be put away in reserves, however they differed on how those funds should be used.
