(BHS) Class of 2011 graduated in June and photographer Matt Dewkett was there to record the day in photos. There were a number of great shots from that album but one of graduate Aileen Tobin in 2011 glasses was just too good to pass up.
Soldiers on Duty
Two of the most read stories of 2011 were photographs of Brookfield natives serving their country overseas in Afghanistan. The first, taken on January 9 in Kandahar province, featured . The second is of earlier this month.
Snow and Ice
Between the and , there were ample snow shots for consideration this year. From over 200 contributions, two stood out as the best user-submitted storm photos, one of after a January storm and as the sun rose over Halloween weekend.

The winter of 2011 was tough, but spring did return and with it the beauty of nature. Dewkett stopped by at Burr Farm in March and captured some of the first flowers in bloom.
What better visible display of than , which Dewkett framed perfectly in the featured photo from his album, with the old windmill standing over gentle, rolling crop fields.
Columnist Amy Landisman took her daughters on a treasure hunt, finding a geocache site the . The photos included with the story showed the beauty of one of Brookfield’s hiking areas, none more so than one of her two girls strolling a path on a perfect spring day.
Photographer Alicia Craybas captured a number of fantastic moments at this year’s Memorial Day parade, but we chose to feature one of the (HHES) band marching with the procession.
The (WMS) Photography Club gave us a photo album from their assignment: what’s your spark? It was hard to pick a favorite from this great group of submissions and we encourage you to flip through them all.
There were some great sports shot this year but the most impressive photo was given to us by reader Kelly Murphy and features Clinton Murphy breaking through concrete blocks at the U.S. Capitol Classics Martial Arts Tournament.
