Where to Pick Your Own Pumpkins in Fairfield County

Halloween's just around the corner, time to check out the local pumpkin patches and farm stands.

Castle Hill Farm, 25 Sugar Ln., Newtown. This farm offers a corn maze, a patch to pick your own pumpkins and on the weekends, hay rides and pony rides. Hours for pumpkin picking is 2-5 p.m. on the weekdays and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on the weekends until Oct. 31. 203-426-5487. http://www.castlehillfarm.net/

Jones Family Farms - Pumpkinseed Hill, 120 Beardsley Rd., Shelton. The farm offers daily pumpkin picking and hayrides (weather permitting) with more than 50 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds. 203-929-8425. http://www.jonesfamilyfarms.com/

Plasko’s Farm, 670 Daniels Farm Rd., Trumbull. This market has already-picked pumpkins for sale and boasts a corn maze and “one of the largest” displays of pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn in the area. 203-268-2716. Open daily from 9 a.m.-6 p.m http://plaskosfarm.com

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Ave., Stamford. The church grounds are transformed annual into a pumpkin patch, open from Oct. 13 to 31. I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.
