Where to Go Apple Picking in Connecticut

With the smell of autumn filling the air, its time to head to the orchards and pick your own apples for cider, pies and eating off the tree.

There's nothing quite like taking the family and retreating to a local farm on a fall afternoon. Freshly-pressed cider, a warm cider donut, the carving of a jack-o-lantern all contribute to each year's autumn memories, but there's also plenty of fun to be had outdoors.

It's apple-picking season, and Connecticut is flush with orchards and farms with trees begging to be picked so they can contribute to your pies, homemade ciders and daily efforts to keep the doctor away.

The following farms and orchards in Fairfield and New Haven Counties provide pick-your-own apples, according to PickYourOwn.org:

Bethel

Blue Jay Orchards

Cheshire

Drazen Orchards

Norton Brothers Fruit Farm

Zentek Farms

Easton

Silverman’s Farm

Meriden

High Hill Orchard

Northford

Bishop’s Orchards

Shelton

Beardsley Cider Mill

Visit PickYourOwn.Org for more info on each farm this picking season.

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.

So Mandarin Chinese won't be a requirement? Perhaps Manchurin Chinese? Cantonese Chinese? MongolianRead More Chinese? Which Chinese are the British speaking these days? Their empire stretched in the Hindu speaking parts of Asia but they aren't teaching Hindu. A quandry indeed.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.

I will lend a hand by voting yes for the school budget this Tuesday, May 21st. Teachers should notRead More have to pay out of pocket for school supplies.

Interesting that representative Scribner fails to represent Brookfield's businesses choosing insteadRead More to focus on Ridgefields.

You certainly have a way with words. Why does it "suck"?
