Light Rain Won't Cancel Brookfield's Parade

The annual Memorial Day parade will go on Sunday rain or shine, according to coordinators, unless that rain turns into thunderstorms.

Brookfield Lion Candy Smith, who is assisting with the organization of this year's parade, said Friday the parade will go on as scheduled even if it's raining, unless it turns into heavy showers and lightning, which creates a safety issue.

"We've only had to cancel once in many years," Smith said, adding that there is no makeup date.
