Lake Lillinonah Claims Another Drowning Victim

Reports said Franklin McColgin, 91, of Bridgewater, drowned Wednesday following a vehicle accident.

A former airline pilot who flew bombers in World War Two drowned this week in Lake Lillinonah, the same lake in a cove in 2010.

According to an article in the News-Times, the death of Franklin McColgin, 91, of Bridgewater was announced Thursday by the State Police. He died Wednesday after an automobile accident.

The newspaper quoted police reports that said McColgin and his wife, Betty, who has Alzheimer’s disease, were riding in their car when the vehicle hit a tree. Investigators said McColgin apparently stumbled 150 feet to the water’s edge, fell in and drowned.
