High Winds, Heavy Rain Predicted Wednesday Night

High winds and heavy rain could down trees, branches and power lines Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a High Wind Watch for the area, with gusts up to 60 mph expected to accompany thunderstorms late Wednesday into Thursday morning.

A High Wind Watch is issued when gusts are predicted to blow faster than 58 mph.

“These strong winds, in combination with heavy rain, could bring down whole trees, large tree limbs, power lines and unsecured outdoor objects,” the NWS warns. “This could pose a hazard to anyone out driving or walking Wednesday night and to houses and other structures near larger trees.”
