Too Soon
It doesn’t seem quite so fair he said
That I should be alive and he should be dead
He was so young and so many years ahead
So smart with such a good brain in his head
He was so admired by all that he met
Teachers and friends will never forget
A pleasant word for all that he knew
Strangers were greeted “and how are you”
This father had tears as he read the eulogy
The mother’s face asked “why he”
So 9/11 caused so much pain
Memories are all that remain
The father’s voice could be heard clear and loud
We must stop this madness he said to the crowd
Our young people deserve their chance to have a life
We must educate our young to stop this strife
So beginning today I ask each of you
Remember my son and what he would do
I know in my heart that you loved him so
His mother and I also know
He’s in a better place that God called him home
But what we wouldn’t give to have him phone home.
