Each Saturday night we would take our seats
The T.V. came on and Mr. Welk gave the beat
Champagne music with words to songs that we knew
Our voices helped out the singers we knew
We heard that the band was going to Carnegie Hall
Now that was a big deal to one and to all
I had always said I would dance with “Larry”
But lo and behold we got tickets to the show
I was so excited I just couldn’t wait to go
A miracle happened as he did on his show
He invited the ladies to dance with him to and fro
I ran down the aisle and my wish came true
Mr. Welk and I danced and I got his autograph too
But that’s not all for he took a picture with me
I was so young, I was only twenty-three
So dreams do come true, it could happen to you.
