Our kids watch what we do!

Kids watch everything we do.  We are their role models.  They learn more from what they see than what they hear.  That's where the saying "monkey see, monkey do" comes from.

When we text while they talk to us, it's no wonder they text while we are talking to them.

When we always drink alcohol when we socialize, they learn that's how to socialize.

When our friends drink at our house and then drive home, we teach our kids it's ok to drink and drive.

When we watch a lot of television, they may do the same.

When we don't exercise, it's no surprise they don't either.

When we tell "little white lies", they may learn to lie.

When we yell to them from another room, it's no surprise that they also yell.

When we leave our shoes, jacket, book and other stuff around the house, they learn to do the same.

What are the things you are modeling for your kids?  Are these things you want to be modeling?

On the positive side....

When we donate our time to a good cause, we are helping them learn to give to others.

When we become friends with someone who doesn't quite "fit in", we are teaching them to be accepting of others as they are.

When we show love and respect to our spouse, friends and relatives, they are learning love and respect.

When we put everything down and look in someone's eyes as they are speaking to us, we are helping them learn how to listen.

When we read, take classes, and continue to learn new things, we are giving them the gift of life-long learning.

When we share our mistakes as opportunities to learn, they will feel less pressured to be perfect, and will grow comfortable with making mistakes.
