Brookfield Resident Launches Crowd-Funding Campaign to Publish Cookbook for Men

Current Brookfield resident, Hobson Lopes, recently launched a crowd-funding program on Kickstarter for his cookbook, Men Cook Too: Easy to Follow Recipes for Men. Lopes is hoping to get funded so he can get his book professionally formatted, published and printed. “It will be a great addition to any kitchen,” Lopes said.

Lopes, 28, is a 2012 graduate of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Conn., where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Writing. The campaign will run until December 1. There are different pledge levels supporters can choose that will reward supporters with copies of the paperback book, e-book or even welcome the WCSU graduate into your kitchen for a home-cooked meal for up to six people.

Men Cook Too is catered to men that don't know where to start when it comes to getting in the kitchen to cook. Basic recipes found online and in cookbooks are too technical for many men and that is one of the main reasons why Lopes decided to write the book.

"When men see recipes in magazines or in cookbooks, they are often too difficult to understand," Lopes said. "In Men Cook Too, men will get step by step instructions that are easy to follow and easier to replicate."

The book will feature dozens of recipes from breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to appetizers, desserts and party cocktails. Among his personal favorite recipes included in Men Cook Too are Sautéed Pork Loin with an Apple Butter Sauce, Apple Cider Donut Bread Pudding, Traditional Spanish Sangria and Bacon and Gouda Wrapped Chicken.

Men Cook Too will be printed in full color with vibrant pictures that will show men what each dish should look like, making it easier to replicate. It will be at least 60 pages and will be formatted professionally in an easy to read manner.

“I want to make sure that men can get in the kitchen and feel comfortable cooking any meal,” Lopes said. “With Men Cook Too, guys will be able to do more than run the grill station at summer barbeques.”
